Though Deutronomy means second law , this last book of the Pentateuch contains not a new law but it is a partial repition of the law proclaimed on Mount Sanai . Also the historical portions of the book is a resume of what took place elsewhere in the Pentateuch . Through his eloquent speeches Moses exhorts , corrects and threatens his people , appealing to their past glory and their future triumps . He aims to enforce them to the Lord 's claim to their obedience...
