Introduction

The Map Room Speech that former President Clinton gave on August 17 1998 was a speech given after a seven month silence regarding his relationship with Monica Lewinsky . This controversy caused the American nation to be distracted from their goals of national development because of their preoccupation towards the former President 's private life . This incident also caused instability not only within his administration but also towards the people that support him . The speech was a form of admittance and reconciliation towards the people , a call towards national unity as

The events that had happened before that speech required the president to deliver this speech . There were already various news reports and rumors floating throughout the nation regarding this issue that is considered a threat to his legitimate rule over the country .
