The social exchange theory is a way of understanding and assessing dyadic relationships . The premise of the social exchange theory is human or social relationship as comprised of material and non-material exchanges of cost and reward (Homans , 1961 . The motivation for the continuity of the interaction is the expectation of reciprocity (Emerson , 1969 .
