why you chose a career in nursing
HARBORING LIFE OVER PUTTING IT IN DISREPAIR NAME OF STUDENT CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY , BAKERSFIELD HARBORING LIFE OVER PUTTING IT IN DISREPAIR As what I commonly hear nowadays , it takes a great deal to become a nurse . Despite the fact that many are taking up Nursing as a course in college and as a profession , for me , it still remains to be one of the most globally competitive careers . Probably , the most obvious and the most common reasons why many students are taking up Nursing include the facts that it is one

of the few courses which provides readily available jobs and that it literally pays to become a nurse . It would not be quite surprising that the demand for nurses is increasing over time . According to a study conducted by Paul J . Fieldstein (2005 , since World War II substantial increases in the demand for health care are said to be caused by factors such as increases in population , income , health insurance coverage , and use of technology (cited in Nursing Trends 2007 . Moreover , as technology advances , as inventions come around , as more and more reasons for hazards to one 's health emerge , there would be more and more reasons to employ more and more nurses around the world This probable shortage of nurses even attract many Asians to leave their families and work abroad , like in the United States and Europe , to at least get bigger opportunities for work , and bigger salaries or compensation
All these may be true for many who are taking up Nursing . As a matter of fact , I also agree to the reasons and situations aforementioned However , my real reason for choosing this as my course and future profession is quite more personal . I developed my inclination to Nursing since I was in my pre-teen years . As far as I can remember , when I was still twelve years old , my grandmother came across an accident and unfortunately , she suffered from a serious hip fracture . Of course , we took her to the doctor and after a series of consultations she started to complain about severe pains around the hips , and extreme difficulty in standing up and walking . I noticed , the pain was only confined to physical suffering but there was also the element of emotional distress Observing her , I did not only feel empathy for my grandmother but it also made me do something for her ' However , what could I possibly do ? I was only twelve , I thought . And I did not know quite well how to ease from the pain that she is suffering from . My grandmother went through a lot of physical therapies , but , to no avail . I felt really sad that she ended up not being able to walk , and thrusting herself unto a wheelchair . From then on , I started to have a passion for taking care of people . Every time I do volunteer work at a clinic in our local community , it gives me a sense of fulfillment that I was able to help...
