the view that crime is socially constructed.
The View that Crime is Socially Constructed A crime is an unacceptable /illegal act whose consequences are heinous and destructive . The perpetrator of a crime is referred to as a criminal It is widely viewed that crime is socially constructed . Even though other economical factors lead people into crimes , social factors are the prime movers to criminology The following social factors contribute to crime Peer Pressure An individual is not born a criminal . He cannot just wake up one day and decide to be a criminal . He must be led

into the world of crime by another person who already has been baptized ' a criminal . And as time goes by , the new member is slowly enticed to join crime . He is told the advantages ' of being a criminal .He is even narrated on how one can make it in crime without notice or harm . All these enticements finally convince an innocent person into crime
Lack of Family Values
A family plays a pivotal role in reshaping a person 's character . Through family gatherings and advisory messages one grows with morally accepted behaviours /norms . A young person tends to emulate the characters of his /her parents and elders . Failure to teach young people on what is good or bad in society makes them to grow without understanding what is expected of them and what they are required to desist from . Parents for instance should advice their children on the dangers of crime . It is only and only them who can warn the growing persons that crime does not pay . It should be appreciated that charity indeed begins at home . It is a home that can curb or accelerate crime through advice or lack of it
Teaching Crime in Social Studies
More about crime especially its repercussions can be incorporated in schools for students to learn . Therefore lack of absorbing this in social studies is something that can breed hundreds or thousands of criminals
Crime to Appease Friends
There are people who engage in crimes to appease others especially friends . Some get pressure from their families who pressurize them with insatiable demands . The only option available of acquiring money to satisfy such demands is involving oneself in muggings and violent robberies
Recognition amongst Social Groupings
Closely related to the above factor of appeasing friends is the fact that crime can be built by the urge of being recognized and respected in the society due to the riches acquired . Some people suffer from inferiority complex for being in poor financial status . They would like to live like other rich people . This pushes them onto crime , acquire wealth and be in such higher positions in society
Social Amenities
Some social amenities aid in abetting crime . Many are crimes whose planning is executed in social places like bars and Restaurants . These places enable them to hide and hence cannot be easily recognized . And after the accomplishment of the crime , the very social places act as hiding places
