The movie V for Vendetta is based on a graphic novel of the same name written by Alan Moore and drawn by David Lloyd . It centers around the rebellion against a fascist , developed in the near future . In a Big Brother-esque society , personal freedom has been destroyed in the name of safety and virtually every facet of life is dictated by the government and its ministers . With this as the backdrop , we meet Evey who is little more than a wage slave in this new government and who violates curfew to conduct an illicit

When she is about to be captured by the secret police , she is rescued by a man wearing a Guy Fawkes mask who identifies himself as V Guy Fawkes was a famous British revolutionary ( Guy Fawkes ' 2007 ) who tried to blow up Parliament and the King on November 5 , 1605 , because they were allowing the persecution of British citizens , largely over their religious views

In the original graphic novel , Moore never makes it clear what prompted people to willingly give up their freedom for safety , but in the movie it is abundantly clear that it was acts of terrorism , specifically the release of a biotoxin on school children that lead to the state (Wachowski and Wachowski 2005 . Over the course of the movie , V reveals to Evey that these acts were often media-spin on government atrocities . He eventually reveals that even he was part of a government experiment that went awry . Though the Wachowski brothers updated the themes for use in the modern world , they stick amazingly close to Moore 's original don 't trust the government or the media premise from the graphic novel (Moore 1982

One of the most important moments in the film comes when Inspector Finch predicts that something , one little spark will ignite the powder keg that is brewing in Britain (Wachowski and Wachowski 2006 . V has begun blowing up buildings and even broadcast a modified news cast from the Ministry of Information , the organization that white washes everything in an effort to keep the populace subdued and docile , calling on people to join him a year later for the Fifth of November celebration ' to bring back te freedom that Guy Fawkes had died for centuries earlier and his actions likely would have failed if not for character , never named in the book or the movie , that sparks the revolution

Throughout the movie we see little glasses girl within her parents home watching the news and after V 's first plea to the populace , playing in a Giy Fawkes mask .The foreshadowing in Inspector Finch 's statement comes to fruition before the rebellion begins in earnest , when the little glasses girl (IMDB , 2007 ) is shot by one of the finger man , the government 's secret police . Ultimately , it is the senseless killing of a little girl that galvanizes the people to action and they turn to the streets to support V 's efforts to blow up Parliament and take back...
