In Canada along the shores of Lake Ontario there is a city known all over the world as being one of the most multicultural and liveable areas we have in the world known as Toronto . Toronto a word taken from the Huron people has the meaning of Meeting Place ' This area formerly known as York was the second capital of Upper Canada . Established in 1794 and later renamed in 1834 to what is now known today as Toronto

Named after the Duke of York and Albany , Prince Frederick by then Governor John Graves

Simcoe who believed the town was at a great location of being the second capital of then Upper Canada due to its less vulnerable location against attack from the Americans

It was laid out originally with a perimeter of ten blocks namely between today known as Adelaide and Front Streets where existed the St James Anglican , Town Hall and Wharf on the west and on the east were the first parliament buildings , windmill etc . Land to the north of Lot Street now known as Queen Street , was the rural township of York which was growing into the natural forest while land south of Lot Street was reserved by the government for expansion of the Town . The town also had a Yonge Street named after the British Secretary of war by then Sir George Yonge which is today recognized as the world 's longest street starting all the way from the edges of Lake Ontario all the way...
