Uranium is a silver color metal . In its natural from it is radioactive . It is found in almost in all rocks , soil and material that are made from earth 's natural substance . All human on the planet earth inhale its small amount every day , because of its presence in air water and food (ICRP , 220 , 1995 . Mostly found in the earth where the concentration of the natural deposits is from 0 .05 to tens of percent

These types of deposits are called uranium ore . Normally these deposits are found in sandstone formations . It is almost found in all USA mostly mined from the New Mexico , Arizona , Utah and Colorado

History

German scientists M .S . Kalproth discover uranium . He discovered a new element of pitchblende ores and named in it uranium The named given to in the honor of planet Uranus . Uranus was discovered 8 years before the discovery of uranium . Its radio active property was discovered by a French scientist Henri Becquerel . Radio activity is produced by the bombardment of uranium . It was first observed by the Enrico Fermi and his colleagues in 1934 (Uranium , 1 2008 . But unfortunately at that time full significant of this observation was not understood at that time . Again in 1939 during a conference Fermi suggested that if uranium nuclei are split under the neutron bombardment other neutrons can also be released to cause a continuous self-sustaining fission reaction
