Does the universe have a purpose?/Does life have a purpose?
DOES THE UNIVERSE HAVE A PURPOSE DOES LIFE HAVE A PURPOSE Introduction Among Catholics , there is an explanation on the existence of the universe . The bible tells us that God created the universe in 7 days But in every given situation , there is always a counter reaction . This will try to study if the universe indeed has a purpose . What are the connotations if there were indeed a purpose to the universe ? The existence of the universe being very basic , one would normally think of a purpose . It may still be

worthwhile to ask why should there be a purpose for not only the universe itself , but also every thing in the universe down to earth bound humans like us
We shall look into the philosophies of Plato , Socrates and Aristotle These three great philosophers each contributed tremendous works and logic to mankind . We shall study their viewpoints on the universe and life in general
Issues on the Purpose of the Universe and Life
There are two theories which explain the existence of the universe . One is the Steady State Theory which argues that the universe is self-sustaining and that the picture remains even after billions of years from now . The Big Bang theory , explains that the universe began with an explosion , and that everything has been moving apart since that explosion
I prefer the Big Bang theory that the Steady State theory because there are various information received from stars and galaxies and there is a constant hiss of background radiation . This hiss comes from energy that remains from the originating Big Bang . Recent measurements of the polarization of cosmic background radiation provides additional evidence of the veracity of the Big Bang theory
I believe that the universe does not remain the same as the Steady State theory believes for it changes over time . Due to mankind 's irresponsible attitude , the universe is now in danger of extinction . We are losing our planet every minute of each day
Is there a purpose to the existence of the universe or to life ? Does the purpose of something comes to life only when we realize their value Is it not enough to believe that we are here because we have a purpose
Another issue on the unievrse is its mechanical composition . It is said that it is but a gigantic machine made up of smaller machines . The mechanistic model is called atomistic . The significance of this model is that the parts remain the same no matter what particular whole they constitute , be it a star or a brain . Newton 's system of the universe is atomistic and mechanistic . The universe is thus seen to be composed of bits of inert matter moving through space according to deterministic laws
