Grievance is the procedure where employees who feel they have been discriminated against and other biased conditions in the workplace can turn to . Discrimination occurs when persons , especially workers , are treated less than other employees in the workplace because of the person 's race , colour , nationality , ethnic or national origin , sex marital status , sexual orientation , disability , political opinion /affiliation , age or religion . Discrimination does NOT occur when workers who are applying for promotion or transfer to another department will be short-listed or selected based solely on the basis of capability . Grievance procedure starts when an employee s a complaint with the proper company managerial level . A meeting is then held between the aggrieved party and the person complained of and the long process starts . The grievance procedure either ends with the aggrieved party being happy with the outcome or unhappy with the outcome . If the employee is not satisfied with the outcome , he or she can move it to the next level in the grievance procedure and hope that a better outcome would result . The grievance process helps fix the situation because some workers who are unhappy tend to lessen their work output in silent retaliation

Grievance occurs when a person feels that he is biased against in job promotions and transfers . One such bias occurs when he is applying for promotion or transfer in the company and the application forms are NOT as simple and straightforward as possible and the questions ask for UNNECESSARY information . Some of these unnecessary questions may touch on privacy issues which is not necessary when hiring . An employee is biased when the basis for the promotion or departmental transfer and promotion is dependent upon interview questions are NOT related to the requirements of the job and also seeks IRRELEVANT qualifications . A specific question that is unnecessary is when the interviewer asks a young lady applicant if she would go out with him as exchange for her promotion or transfer . Another such irrelevant question is asking if the person is gay or lesbian . Grievance is the best step in case job promotions and transfers are biased
