A clear theoretical foundation for this case seems to be missing . Utilizing the client 's motivations for treatment could fit within a number of conceptualizations . The described pattern of Carrie 's dependence on others doesn 't truly seem to satisfy her emotional needs . This longstanding dysfunction may be rooted in a personality dis , which are particularly challenging to treat . More information on Sammy

The five open-ended questions chosen were exceptionally insightful , but it was surprising that Sammy believed the original case provided significant information ' about Carrie . From a clinical perspective many questions remained unanswered . Carrie 's ability to function in a work or recreational environment is unknown . The question posed to Carrie about what happens when she is unable to help someone will provide useful information to the therapist for intervention planning It also would have been interesting to change the wording of this question to read : What would happen if you were no longer allowed to help others ' The empathic and supportive tone of these questions is one of the strong points in this response
