Abstract There are two factors steering the world economy and they are advances in modern technology and globalization . As John Shinal , of the San Francisco Chronicle observes there are certain careers and job skills that have stood the test of time , such as the medical and legal profession and then there are other careers that just come and go Accepting that certain careers and job skills such as those in the medical and criminal justice system will always be in demand , this focuses on the current socio-economic trends and what this means

for the future of employment opportunities and leaves aside those careers that have already stood the test of time . Currently the growth in world ecommerce which is vastly facilitated by developments in modern technology forms the focus of this . There is no question that this dual growth is unprecedented in the history of mankind
Introduction
Globalization cannot be distinguished from the concept of internationalism . It necessarily involves greater worldwide participation in commerce , exchange of information , greater movement of people as well as money . While it is obvious that science and technology will continue to play a pivotal role in globalization , it is no great mystery since these areas have always been important to modernization As this trend continues to increase job markets will continue to demand careers and skills associated with the service sector , information technology , communications and financial services . There are a number of specific career opportunities under each of these headings .
