James Earl Ray (1928- 1998 ) came from a hapless family in Alton Illinois . He was the eldest children of the family of Lucille and George Ellis Ray . The family was having the hard and heavy time right from the beginning and then in 1935 , it moved to a barren and desolate 60- acre farm in Missouri , which they purchased when George was out on bond for forgery conviction .
