Introduction

There are different ideas on how teachers can incorporate educational philosophies into the classroom setup . Highly-acclaimed educators developed these varying philosophies . They have their strengths and weaknesses . The teacher 's job is to sift through this list of philosophies to find her own style and philosophy and decipher which sections of each idea to use in her teaching

A teacher learns that behavior does impact learning and much can be learned about a child

through their behavior . However , the behavior is not the child . She clarifies that when she thinks of the behavior , it is merely a cause of something else that is occurring within the child It does not seem thorough to treat the behavior only and not take into account the reason for the behavior . Same teachers are bothered by behaviorism because it reduces children to thoughtless individuals meant to mold

To facilitate human learning , a more flexible , more nurturing environment would be needed . Human learning is most often an active cognitive process . Habituation and observational learning require participants to actively attend to the environment , to encode what they have witnessed and to retain this information before showing any evidence of learning . By developmental , we mean the emphasis on the identifiable patterns of growth and models of perceiving and responding characterized by increasing differentiation and progressive integration as a function of chronological age . By Interaction , we mean the emphasis on the child 's interaction with the environment - adults , other children , and the material world , and second to the interaction between cognitive and effective spheres of development (Berns , 1997 Piaget believes that all forms of understanding are created through the workings of two inborn intellectual processes that he called organization and adaptation . Teachers would do well as they use Piagetian theory in the classroom set-up . Organization is the process by which children combine existing schemes into new and more complex intellectual structures . Piaget believed that children are constantly organizing whatever schemes they have into more complex and adaptive structures . The goal of organization is to promote adaptation , the process of adjusting to the demands of the environment . According to Piaget , adaptation occurs through two complementary activities assimilation and accommodation . Assimilation is the process by which children try to interpret new experiences in terms of their existing models of the world , the schemes that they already possess . The child is trying to adapt to this novel stimulus by construing it as something familiar

Yet , truly novel objects , events and experiences may be difficult to interpret in terms of one 's existing schemes . For example , the young child may soon notice that this big animal she is labeling a doggie has funny-looking feet and a most peculiar bark , and she may be inclined to seek a better understanding of the observations she has made Accommodation , the complement of assimilation , is the process of modifying existing structures in to account for new experiences So , the child...
