Other medications are used as an alternative for Azithromycin , but these may cost more than the regular ones . An antibiotic considered as alternative is Doxycycline (Vibramycin , which is administered orally , and given twice a day for seven days . Although several treatments have been discovered for the said disease , prevention is still the best option for individuals . As a sexually transmitted disease , the best way to prevent contamination is by not having sexual intercourse .
