Statement of Purpose

About one year ago , when I had just decided to join the master program of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology , I received the most important opportunity of my life . I had the chance to participate in the World Congress Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization 7th (WCSMO-7 , a national conference , as the first author and a presenter . To prepare for it , I studied three kinds of regression modeling techniques . I felt that it was a very tough job because I had little knowledge regarding statistics and optimization

br but I did not consider this as an obstacle that can limit my performance . I embraced this challenge because I know that it will be worth it in the end . Moreover , this experience motivated me to acquire and study more mathematical knowledge and how to apply them in the real world

With this experience , I believed that joining the master program of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology was the best for me . However , the more that I studied , the more that I envisioned myself to continue on becoming a doctor of philosophy and make significant progress in the Industrial Engineering field . With my desire , I can confirm that I am the best prepared person more than any other individual applying for the program due to the following reasons

First of all , I consider my academic ability as competitive with that of the students on the program . My educational background had nothing to do with Industrial Engineering and all the courses I took in last two semesters were not familiar for me . I especially have to mention the course Manufacturing Systems , which I dared to take and experience the challenge without taking prerequisite or related courses before . This was the only subject among my other courses wherein I received a grade of B , as I received higher grades than this in my other courses . I felt that I should acquire mathematical background and basic knowledge before making any academic progress . On the other hand , the results from second semester were enough to inspire me , boost my confidence , and make me believe that I am competent enough to work with all the other students in the program . Actually , my final rank of two courses , Computational Statistics and Scheduling Theory , was within the top three . I believe that this is impressive since there are many students taking those courses . I also received a grade of A in the Linear Optimization course which is definitely a course only for a doctor of philosophy student Moreover , as it was my first time to study those fields and I took courses in various fields , unlike other students in the program with specific concentration , this showed that my academic ability exceeds the other students ' capabilities
