I am certainly not the traditional college applicant , as my perspective has been shaped by a combination of real world experience and military service that has afforded me the opportunity to become a much more responsible and complete individuals . Since graduating from high school I 've made the most of an excellent opportunity in the United States Army . Included in those three years of service was a lengthy tour of duty in Iraq helping with Operation Iraqi Freedom . There , I gained a truly unique global perspective and I

also became a much more disciplined person . My time in the military has added to my organizational prowess , which will certainly be a boon to my efforts as a student

Since completing my time in the military , I have worked full time applying those skills learned in the Army to my job . This real life setting has both prompted and helped me to establish a strong work ethic . I have spent the last couple of years balancing this work with my academic pursuit , which has been a challenge to say the least . Now , I am dedicated to seeing how much I can achieve by focusing all of my time on gaining a degree in Civil Engineering . I 'm confident that with the appropriate amount of focus and dedication , I can enjoy a similar level of success to what I have been able to enjoy in both the working world and in the United States Army

I look forward to the opportunity to put the military 's educational benefits to good use in earning this degree . My focus will be on satisfying the university 's requirements in the most efficient manner possible , utilizing a responsible , organized strategy to get the most out of my time there and go on to have a successful career in engineering...
