from both characters existing in different eras . As her first Broadway role after 46 years , the play consist of complicated development as the creator Moises Kaufman , interweaves the Beethoven 's and Katherine 's unrelated characters with the waltz as their meeting point . As both characters juggle their own personal issues to accomplish what could be their final and most satisfying achievements of their professional careers , each of them clearly showed similar patterns to prove their parallelism , in terms of dialogues and the symbolism of the waltz
