In psychology , development of personality can be determined by two major factors namely genetic factors and environmental factors . Genetic factors is also known as the development of a person 's personality which is processed through heredity or genetic process wherein an offspring gets a certain personality which is original from one side of his or her parents . Genetic personality development occurs when a certain genetic composition of

a parent such as gesture when speaking is bypassed to the developing fetus and is adapted by the baby as the baby grows and develops . Environmental factors serve as a wide ranged personality shaper as it tends to change or alter a certain person 's personality when that person is exposed to it . According to the psychoanalytic theory of personality by Sigmund Freud there are three diverse and simple explanations in to determine a certain person 's personality namely the id , ego , and super ego . Freud 's study includes the explanation which says that the factor which leads in becoming a drive to drag a certain person to do his or her desires is the id in other words , id is a certain biological need of a human which is being transformed into a lot higher intent and becomes a form of psychological tension . A certain person who is dragged by his or her id has a strong personality . The ego is defined as the component of human 's personality which is capable of coping up or interacting with the environment . It is the component of personality which could void a person from doing certain mistakes that could lead to punishments and it is capable of avoiding certain things which can cause pleasure for the sake of not being punished .
