Does the sexualization of women in the media demean or empower women?
Consequences that are brought about by sexualization in the media have adverse effects to the development of girls and women .Sexualization of girls and women affects the healthy development of girls and women in various ways like making them feel dissatisfied with their body and lacking confidence withy their bodies . This have been seen to make them feel shame and dissatisfied with their body (Duncan 1990 Sexualization have been seen to lead to several and most common effects they include mental effects , depressions and eating diss and also contribute to the effect

that girls would slow in developing their healthy sexual image . This could be fought by parents joining the fight against this by educating their daughters on how to overcome this through encouraging them and motivating them
APA advocates that sexualization should be replace with other methods that would show a positive image of girls as this would change things and contribute to empowering girls and young women to appreciate themselves as well as their self image (Griffin ,1998
Conclusion
Sexualization does not empower girls and young women but continued use of them completely demean women and cause several negative effects There should be a way of reversing this to encourage women in appreciating their sexuality as well as their self image
Its evident that use of sexualization in the media has several consequences to the development of girls both physically and mentally This could also contribute to eating diss as well as sexual development in girls and young women .
