separation of church and state
Running Header : Separation of Church and State Separation of Church and State Name College /University The separation of church and state is part of the laws and legislations authorized by the United States constitution . This particular law creates a distinction between civic responsibilities and religious duties . The role of the separation of church and state is clear it keeps the state independent from religious influences and vice versa The concept of separation of powers is clearly rational , given the differences in religious inclination Religion is subjective , depending on established

doctrines . Looking at it on a wider perspective , depending on religion to rule a sovereign country , for instance , would break up society into smaller groups of religious sects instead of bringing them all together as a nation . This is the basic idea of the concept of separation of church and state
There are many religious doctrines prevalent around the world , such as the teachings of Islam , Christianity , Buddhism , and Hinduism , among others . In one country , people would be subdivided into different religious sects that they belong to . Religious influence over state matters creates a prejudiced society , which disrespects other religions and cultures , and tramples on the human right of equality . Creating a wall between the church and the state creates a middle ground on which people from different religions are equal regardless of the gods religious practices or beliefs
Applying it to social issues , the importance of separation of church and state is supported by the need to implement it in the field of education . Teaching science concepts such as creation or evolution , and the inclusion of several moral practices such as praying in schools or learning about different kinds of religions raises some issues about the application of the concept of separation of church and state . The point of the matter is that there is a need to raise the consciousness of all individuals about multiculturalism , including the different religious practices however , there should be restrictions concerning this particular issue , especially in public schools because there is a thin line that separates the state and the church
The state should be able to uphold the rights of all people , whether they belong to the same religion or not , because the government is impartial to providing for the needs and addressing the concerns of all citizens . Concerning education , teaching should also be impartial , such that it does not cling to any particular religious doctrine or culture For instance , educational institutions should be sensitive about the issue concerning the origin of man . There are many explanations coming from different sects in society . Christianity believes that God created man , while Islam acknowledges Allah as the creator . The origin of man is also explicated in the theory proposed by Charles Darwin , which is the theory of evolution
This specific is sensitive because students come from different religious backgrounds and are taught different concepts when it comes to the origin of man , depending on their religious doctrine . Teachers should be impartial such that they do not offend any religious doctrine and that , they lay out all the facts about different beliefs from different religions . Educational institutions should not influence their students in deciding which religious doctrine to believe in . Perhaps the role of educational institutions is to inform their students of the different types of religion existing at present , and let them decide which religion to believe in and which religious traditions to practice They should not distort what Moslem students for instance , have learned from their parents and their community . Moreover , educational institutions should uphold the law of the state , which declares that everyone has the right to choose and become a member of a particular religion
The concept of separation of church and state eliminates chaos among members of society . As aforementioned , keeping the state free from religious influences becomes a form of control to rule over the nation as a whole . It balances religion and civic responsibility , such that it gives freedom for all to choose their religion , but also upholds equality for people regardless of religion and promotes their responsibility to their country as citizens . Perhaps , we need to adhere to this law for peace and equality in the country . Separation of Church and State - PAGE 1 - ...
