Teaching is an occupation that has wide repercussions . As Henry Adams said , A teacher affects eternity he can never tell where his influence stops ' This said , collaborating with the community is important to ensure that the education I give fits the students . I have shown this through first of all , learning to speak Spanish fluently Teaching in an Hispanic neighborhood , it is very important to be able to speak the students ' main language . Not only will they be able to learn the facts and concepts better , they will also know that I am

earnest to teach them . This breaks down whatever objections they may have against me as an outsider ' because of my position as a teacher . This in turn helps me plan my lessons better

I also continue to work with the school psychologist in conducting social skills groups for two groups . This I feel , is important , as I learn so much about the contemporaries of my students . Aside from learning about their basic psychological make-up , I am also able to impress upon these students values that they must have to be able to integrate into society better . This is important in making them good citizens

I also meet with the Intervention and Referral Services in School thrice a week for meetings . I am able to learn more about the challenges my students meet in their everyday lives . Knowledge of this sort helps me tailor my lessons that are centered around their experiences , so as they do not feel alienated from learning . The relevance of education is easily forgotten , so this is important

I also meet one on one with teachers to discuss students . It is not only important to meet with my co-teachers , but also gratifying . This is a noble profession , however one does meet gargantuan challenges , which makes one forget the nobility of this profession . However , when we meet and compare experiences , I once again am reminded why I stay on

I also help parents out with questions and information regarding teachers , school , curriculum , etc . We have to touch base with parents so to speak . As not all students are willing to talk to teachers regarding their problems with school , conferences with parents are a must...
