Marriage is a long and winding journey . The life in a marital status is full of ups and downs . Couples have the right to conceptualize the kind of marriage life that they wish to be into . The stories The Yellow Wall ' by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and What we Talk When We Talk About Love ' by Raymond Carver uses scenarios and theme of marriage to show how a relationship lasts and how marriage can make or break someone else 's personality

p The story written by Gilman literally describes the setting of the story where the main character is trapped in a room designed with traces of yellow wall . What makes the story complicating is that the wife is being locked up in the said room by her own husband . The reason for her entrapment is because she is suffering from post pattern depression . She was deprived of having contact with other people even with her new born child and her husband whom she is suppose to receive support , love and care . She is suffering not only from mental illness but from her own marriage . John , the woman 's husband stopped her from working and writing . She then finds temporary escape by hiding pieces of her journal . She well kept her write ups so that she will not get caught by her husband .
