The issue of same sex marriage has continued to raise heated debates in different parts of the world especially in the recent past owing to the increase of the number of people who are declaring openly that they are gay or lesbians . In the past , same sex marriage was highly opposed and gay and lesbian persons were afraid to declare openly their status due to the stigmatization they were facing . Despite the fact that most people still believe that same sex marriage

is wrong and thus should be illegalized , different pro same sex marriage groups have emerged and they are fighting hard for the legalization of same sex marriages . There are different and opposing views which have been raised by both the opposing and supporting groups which are mainly based on biblical or morality versus freedom of choice respectively (Deannaizme para 2 Those opposing same sex marriages argue that it is against the biblical teachings about marriage and that its legalization would only lead to societal moral degradation . However , those supporting same sex marriage argue that the state or a country is separate from religion and as such these two should not be mixed while dealing with the issue .
