Child labor is arguably one of the most important issues on discussion in the world today . It has been viewed as a global epidemic which must be eliminated with immediate effect . According to the International Labor Organization , there are about 15 percent of child laborers aged between the ages of 5 and 15 all over the world majority of whom are found in the developing countries . Such high instances of child labor have been attributed to globalization

with some skeptics arguing that international trade liberalization and foreign investments which come with globalization ass well as the increased competition in the global markets compel industries in the developing countries to indulge in child labor so as to keep their labor and overall production costs low However , pro-globalists have come up with logical theoretical arguments against this claim and according to them , globalization is responsible for the reduced cases of child labor in the developing countries such as Vietnam . This research is aimed at evaluating the link between globalization and child labor in both industrialized and developing countries . From the findings , it is clear that most child laborers are found in the developing nations such as India with no major cases of child labor reported in industrialized nations such as Japan . In fact most industrialized nations such as Europe and U . S are determined to eliminate child labor in the developing countries through imposition of trade sanctions and trade policies barring nations which practice child labor from participating in the world trade transactions . At the end of this , recommendation on how globalization and other measures can be used positively to reduce child labor are suggested and discussed in detail

Globalization can be defined as a systematic process of increasing the level of connectivity of the world market businesses as well as their interdependence on one another which results in international trade liberalization , removal of trade barriers and promotion of free international trade among nations .
