Religion Versus Faith

The concept behind most religions is both fascinating and appealing but it is not as fascinating or as appealing to me as the concept of faith . The ideas that there is a higher power , a second chance at life a guidebook to becoming a better human being all seem palatable however , these are the things that I view as issues of faith not as issues of religion , and because of this , religion does not

play a significant role in my life

Personally , I am put off by most organized religions and those who profess deep association with them - regardless of denomination . It seems anti-religious for those who are of one denomination to profess superiority or greater clarity than those of another denomination . Until we reach a point in this world that everyone who is alive has adequate food and shelter and clothing , it seems wasteful to build multi-million dollar churches and televised empires . It matters not how great a percentage of their profits are donated to charity : this is about a tax credit not about caring . If it were about caring , the millions of dollars would speak for themselves in the form of fed clothed , and housed people

Finally , the practice of some denominations to travel door-to-door to spread the word of their church and their god is simply rude . No one does this politely : when a group of solicitors is asked to leave , to take their pamphlets with them , and never to return , they...
