Purpose Statement

My entire life I have been enthralled with the struggle of the downtrodden . As a child , I remember crying at seeing homeless or beggars . As a youth , I did not make fun of them or shun them as many do . Instead , I talked to them . I tried to befriend them . I smiled at them . Although my life is better than most , I could easily imagine myself in the shoes of someone else . I 've always wanted to make the world a

better place . As an adult , I know that I cannot do this , but I do know what I can do , and that is why I am studying international relations . My goal is to continue my studies through the graduate level and pursue a PhD in this area

I began my studies in politics in Saudi Arabia , but feel that the program here in international relations better suits my goal of eventually working for an international organization such as the United Nations . Human rights , refugee issues , war problems , and poverty are all special areas of interest to me . I would like to be a valuable contributor to the international world . I believe my genuine interest and desire to make a difference by helping others in the largest way possible make me an excellent candidate for this type of program and for the career I ultimately seek

In my short time in the United States studying in the English language program , I have already felt the effects of the wonderful education system here and consider it a privilege to be able to study here and gain the necessary skills and knowledge needed to make the world a better place
