Paper Topic:

psychological point of veiw of the movie the six sense

The movie sixth sense which made its way to the public in the year 2003 was perhaps a platform that would justify many points of view . It can justify socially , psychologically and behaviorally , human lives which provide the viewer one chance to identify these things from an emotional angle . Whether this chance is grasped and executed depends the viewer himself and his intellectual range . Does he treat it like just another psychological /supernatural thriller or does he see it more from a psychological stance ? Does he want to justify the movie and its

ending ? Or does he leave it right when the credits appear rolling up

Set in the dusky , historic and thought provoking Philadelphia the main protagonists of this narration include Dr . Malcom Crowe a child psychologist , cole his young patient , cole 's troubled single mother and Malcom 's depressed wife who according to her has always played second fiddle to Malcom 's passionate dedication to his profession Fundamentally speaking , this plot revolves around these four characters who are all troubled . Needless to say their troubles are not physical They need mental support and this is what they try to achieve in their interactions with each other or others around them

Driven by a passion to help his patients or to be more precise this very patient , Malcom dedicates his time in all its entirety to his latest find , Cole . He knows most things about him already . About his life until now , his parents , his social interactions , friends and a lot more . But as he interacts with this child he begins to understand more and more to his amazement that this is what he really wants to do . He justifies his situation on the pretext of the fact that this child resembles a lot somebody he was never able to help , Vincent Grey his young patient of many years rewind . But what the viewer should gauge at this point is that as he begins to interact with Cole , he follows the same approach he once followed with Grey which according to him is the way it should be But as the story progresses the viewer notices changes in Dr Malcom where he breaks free of his typecast approach and begins to do things differently as far as Cole is concerned and that is when he realizes his mistake with Grey . This shall be considered later in detail

A session is arranged everyday for Cole with Dr Malcom where Malcom tries to find out the reason why his patient is asocial and cocooned The obvious explanation seeing the boy initially was a mood dis where variations in mood are so intense and persistent than normal variations that it leads to problems in social and occupational wellbeing . Gelder ,2005

But as we go deeper into this tale we begin to understand that this problem might not be the only finding on Dr Malcom 's diagnostic checklist . Cole begins to hear voices at a birthday party coming from up above the staircase...
