School as a Social Agency

Basically , a school is defined as an institution /body whereby students learn under the supervision of educators . The primary purpose of the school , through a well-differentiated curricula and structured educational programs is to provide for education or learning grounds for literacy . But , another aspect is investigated as there is increasing recognition of school as an agency of social action ' albeit through methodological education influencing both teacher and student behavior

br and cognitive abilities

School as social construct can be viewed at two phase : individual and unitary (overall ) phase . Each individual is accorded with the capacity to act independently or with autonomy and that the school as an educational structure ' can influence the opportunity /capacity of the individual . Classic to the debate on the primacy of structure is - `is the school a determinant of the students behavior [Structuralism] ' or `are the group students able to effect the overall capacity of the school [ethnomethodology]

The classic method of the school as an agency cannot be contended students and teachers are affected by the planned curricula , the sociological extants surrounding their environment - relations that exist between individuals (student-teacher , student-student teacher-teacher , types of perceptions , school politics and the governmental politics within the immediate vicinity , religion , school legislations and applied philosophy , and social events - that of which are causal agents of social interactions and behavior . Therefore all elements mentioned are contributory to the social phenomena of the school

School is more than just the sum of the students and teachers present Instead , each individual are socialized and embedded into the social constitution of the school and that these elements shape individuals dispositions towards their daily actions and ways of thought
