In the early stages of my life , I saw education as an inevitable part of life . People are compelled to enter an academic institution in to be properly prepared for the future . Because of this idea , I have developed a sense of detachment into the notion that education can aid in my personal and professional development . Since I neglected the importance of attending school , I did not finish high school and settled for blue collar part time jobs . Back then , I believed that education was useless and I perceived it as a useless time-consuming activity However , things started to
steer into another direction when I barely passed the GED exam and I did not get a better job that is more suited for my educational background . When I was working at Community College cafeteria , I bumped to an old woman who was cramming on her Algebra homework . She looked like she was experiencing a difficult time but she seemed happy doing it . Then , we started a conversation that ended with her telling me that education completely changed her life . This last remark completely altered my viewpoint about learning and going to college .
