A Personal Portrait On a warm summer night , a little boy was borne in a local hospital , that little boy was me . I am the first child and my mother had me on normal delivery since she was young and strong , I did not cause her much pain I was also healthy and passed all the tests in the hospital although I was short in weight from a normal 40 weeks old infant , but I was happy to be in the outside world as I was smiling the first time my mother held

me . I was only in the hospital for 3 days and was sent home to a warm and welcoming family . My mother as young as she was tried her best to take care of me and had given me the attention and nurturing that infants and babies need . I really don 't remember much about the early period of my life . What I know of I had asked my mother if she did remember when I first walked and talked . She used to say that I was a very active child , that I used t grab anything I could hold on to and that I learned to walk earlier than all of my siblings . My first word was mamee ' which is probably why I have a very strong bond with my mother . I don 't have trust issues because I had a warm and caring relationship with my mother when I was a baby . However , before I even was a toddler , I already had a younger brother which definitely changed my world . I was no longer the baby but the older brother . I think I grew up fast even if I did not want to . So maybe instead of skipping some developmental milestones , I fast tracked them . I had a serious issue of sibling rivalry with my younger brother and it increased my egocentric thoughts . I believed then that I was better at everything than my brother and my other cousins . I was very independent then , I could be left alone playing or watching cartoons all by myself while my mother had to attend to my younger brother . I used to stray around the neighborhood during the summers , and when my younger brother was old enough , I dragged him along and usually looked after him while we played in the park . My
mother was even fond of an anecdote wherein I tried giving my brother a bath and ended up flooding our bathroom . I also helped in raking the lawn even if the rake was taller than I am I used to my brothers to pick up the leaves I could not get to . My mother was the most present adult in my life then , she stayed home and was with us while I was growing up , my father was absent for the greater part of my childhood He was not around much due to his work and basically I don 't have a relationship with...
