For many people , ethics is a subject that deals with the conception of right and wrong . It is the which expounds on the essentials of morality . Philosophically speaking , ethics is a broader concept . It is generally , a concept that ponders on the so-called good life ' Good life is , according to Kant , a manifestation of cultural values values to which rationality has created (Curtis , 1981 . For some philosophers this definition of ethics does

not hold true . They argued that the pecuniary of ethics is not derived from any cultural values . The basis of ethics is rationality or logic . This is what Aristotle ascribed to He argued that the basis of ethics is rationality . In for an individual to attain good life , logic and rationality must take hold in every decision . Hence , rationality and logic must be the standard to measure every individual action

One can say then that ethics is the formal measurement of values (derived from common rationality . In for a behavior to be ethical , it must conform to common rationality , in essence , the values that society subscribes to . For a behavior to be labeled unethical , it must be in contradiction with shared values
