PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Introduction

This essay is intended to be a personal development plan for myself This covers the short term and the long term prospects for my career growth and development . The goals and priorities that I must set myself along with the aspects of personality development that I must undertake are listed here

I am a major in International relations from Turkey and have done my MBA in UK and presently doing my Msc . This essay lists out the plan for myself till 2010 . The essay covers the goals

and priorities as well as the personal aspects that I have to develop to attain my aims in life

GOALS

Short Term goal (2008

The short term goal relates to completing the course . Towards this I have to set a plan for myself wherein I pick the major correctly , given my experience in International relations and Business management . I have to pick a major that is related to the application of the business concepts to science which may take the form of choosing either the analytical side of the course or the corporate research program offered by my university . I have to explore the linkages between application of business uses to the science degree that I am pursuing in the UK

Medium term goal (2008- '10

My medium term goal would be to work as a consultant in a company that specializes in using the scientific concepts that I have learned commercially . Ideally , I would like to be a consultant where I would be in a function that makes use of my skills that I have learnt so far This can take the form of a role which advises corporates on Patent protection , Copyright and International laws relating to the same . In this way , I can apply the concepts that I have learnt in my MBA as well as my degree in International relations along with the current degree in science that I am pursuing

Longer Term goal

My longer term goal would be to be an academic in one of the recognized universities . Pursuant to my completing the present degree and then getting employment in a company , I would like to take up an academic career in some of the areas that I have mentioned above . This would ensure that my consulting experience comes in handy for the academic role . The reason I have chosen this career path is to get synergies out of my education and employment . Towards an academic career , I should ensure that I publish s when working as a consultant . I should also pursue some courses in my present degree that have a research bent to them

PLANNED PRIORITIES and reasons why

I have planned the following priorities for myself

Complete the current degree (2008

Successfully clear my current majors and strive for good grades

Improve my language skills as English is not my native language

Take up a mix of business related as well as research oriented courses

Gain employment (2009
