TYPES OF PATIENT ADVOCACY The Patient Advocate may provide several services like medical assistance , Insurance Assistance , Home Health Assistance , Legal Assistance , etc Medical Assistance The Patient Advocate requires knowledge of health care system and medical background . They will be in a position to provide medical assistance like diagnoses review , treatment option , analysis medical reports and test reports , arranging appointments with medical officers etc . Mostly such posts will be filled with the persons who have medical background like retired doctors , nurses etc . these professionals will also attend some development programs
to provide more assistance efficiently
Insurance assistance
The very confusing issues are insurance and billing activities . The patients and other family members do not have knowledge about insurance policies and utilization of such polices , though they are eligible to get the benefits . The Patient Advocates explains the details of the policy and educate them about costs and billing of treatment . They also provide help in filing the claims , negotiations of denial claims etc
Legal Assistance
