Introduction

The western civilisation started with the renaissance that is considered as the start for modern age . In the mid 14th century , the European scholars changed their perception of the world and became more interested in the world and the exploration of new lands . They improved their art and it became more true life oriented . New ideas were exchanged as Italians traded with the Arabs . Other than simply studying ancient scholar 's works

, the renaissance influenced architecture sculpture and even painting that became more realistic and did not focus much on religion as it had before . The renaissance art paintings had depth it was more lifelike than the one of the middle ages . The artists through their studies showed perspective , that is the difference observed when things close or far away from something appeared . Artists like Giotto painted in this new style and he made the bodies look solid and ensured that the background of the paintings gave perspective . The art produced in the renaissance traces its roots to the works of Giotto .
