Information and communications technology is at the forefront of education , as well as with other major fields , because of the competence and efficiency it provides . The dawn of the computer age introduced technology as a daily part of human life - in banking , transportation communication , etc . To cope with the growing changes in our world , other various fields such as medicine , law enforcement , as well as education necessitates technology in to make work more efficient , and increasing possibilities to realize goals

and objectives . To be more specific , technology also needs to be integrated to nursing , especially in the field of education

One of the key competencies that nurse educators must exhibit is the application of technology in teaching , and integrating knowledge of technology in the learning objectives (Southern Regional Education Board , 2002 ) To meet this requirement , the American Association of Colleges of Nursing , and other concerned educational institutions and private organizations , are promoting educational strategies and techniques for nurse educators that integrate the use of technology Colleges and universities are also required to include in their curriculum nurse education with respect to the use of technology in teaching . These changes in the curriculum aim to develop the teaching skills and abilities of nurse educators , most especially the ability of nurse educators to dispense knowledge and information with the use of a variety of technological channels for improved and efficient teaching-learning process (Axley , 2008

Standardizing the requirement to integrate technology in the teaching-learning process in the curricula would greatly help in preparing and equipping nurse educators with the requirements and competencies to be able to familiarize themselves with technological advancements and innovations that would assist them in facilitating the learning process , as well broaden the application of technology by teaching their students how to obtain access and utilize technology in a productive and desirable way
