I would like to take this opportunity to discuss why I chose to pursue an MBA and to address my GPA in my first semester of college

First , I explored many different areas before deciding on international business . While some people are fortunate enough to know very early in their lives what career path they will choose , my goals were initially vague . When I began college , I was interested in pursuing a career in international law . For this reason , I enrolled in many political science classes and accepted an internship as a paralegal . I worked in a small office with three attorneys who practiced immigration law for Korean-Americans . While this experience was valuable , I realized almost immediately that I did not want to pursue this path

During my third year of college , I made the decision to focus on business , economics , and finance . Following graduation , I worked for an accountant and gained some excellent hands-on experience . Through my studies and career , I am convinced that my path is in international business . The Global MBA program at Seoul National University will serve as a stepping stone from which I will equip myself with the tools I need to participate in the complex business world

Secondly , I would like to address my GPA during my first semester of college . While my family lived in the United States at the time , the effects of the 1998 IMF crisis were felt in my household as well . Faced with financial hardships , I volunteered to work part-time while continuing my full-time studies at Rutgers , the State University of New Jersey . Concerned more with providing for my family , I was not as focused on my studies during this time . For this reason , my GPA for my first semester of college was 2 .25 . However , I was soon able to turn my full attention back to my classes . I was recognized for my achievements and was placed on the Dean 's List for academic excellence several times By graduation
