The picture shown is about a female American Indian carrying a basin over her head , looking at a body of water . This depiction of Indian life has some incongruities in it . The most evident perhaps is the subject of the picture , the supposedly American Indian female with long hair and wears only a skirt . It is incongruent because the skin of the woman is somehow white , even if you compare it with the lighting

of the surroundings in the picture . Since she does not wear any article of clothing in her upper body , then the hot sun would have tanned or darkened her skin color . In the picture , the skin of the female figure is white , which is seemingly different from the skin of most American Indians which are tan . Women in the American Indian culture are also actively participating in daily chores like planting and harvesting , and a lot more . This could be the reason why she is facing the body of water instead , not showing her face . This picture could have been fabricated and was shot using a white American model , instead of an actual American Indian . The image somehow portrays sexuality , showing a woman without anything on her upper body , and only a skirt to cover her up
