Everyday , people perform several tasks , some of which involve memorizing . This at times requires working memory which occasionally is deficient in some individuals . Due to the problems they face research has been conducted to provide solutions . The following paper will discuss the recent development from research done in this area

Introduction

Working memory refers to the memory human beings experience for a short while which

enables the process of remembering things for a short period of time . It is put to use on a daily basis such as when taking a phone number without writing materials hence memorizing . Due to its significance to numerous higher brain functions , and development of techniques used to study brain processes such as PET , it has generated a lot of interest leading to numerous research . It has been found to be different from long term memory which operates for a number of hours days or a lifetime (Narayanan , 2010

Current Research

The current concept of working memory is built on its early theory of limited capacity and its operation within a few seconds . It is also integrated with higher cognitive processes like learning , comprehension reading , mental arithmetic , planning and solving of problems .
