Any one can love pets . Of course , who doesn 't love a dog ? A cat ? Maybe a fish ? But I 'm different . Not because I hated those harmless animals but because I have this intense urging within me since childhood . You may not believe it but what I do the love are one of the most unloved ' and feared living creatures in this world ---snakes and reptiles

I don 't know what it is about snakes and reptiles that attracted me most but for as long as I

can remember , I have always been passionate about them When I was a kid , I used to catch fence lizards , alligator lizards , and whiptail lizards .almost all types of lizards I could find at home and in the neighborhood in Southern California . Anyway , do you know how these lizards looked like

Well , fence lizards are about 4 inches long (the one I caught ) and it 's brown in color . The one I got as a pet had a bluish belly . But I 've seen black and greenish ones too . I fed them with insects and spiders but spiders were harder to catch so I gave them insects most of the time . I forgot to tell you that I caught my favorite fence lizard in one of the rocks in our backyard

From the word itself , alligator ' you may be thinking that the alligator lizard indeed looks like an alligator . Actually , they are lean and slender , about 10 inches in length (quite long ) and yes , they have some resemblance with a real alligator . Its belly is grayish and my pet was brown with dark blotches all over its body . My pet could somehow care you because it has gloomy , black eyes . But to me , it was sweet and adorable

Finally , I also have whiptail lizards . From what I 've read , it has about 45 different species and noted for its long slender tail (which made me thought that maybe it got its name from its

whip-like ' tail . Some species of whiptails are unique because they are unisexual , meaning , they only have one sex . Can you just imagine how same-sex whiptails mate and reproduce

Quite interesting , huh . What make their features also distinct are their pointed snouts which are about 4 inches long . Its color is tan or olive (somewhat greenish ) but they have yellow and white stripes all over its body

Aside from lizards , I also had pet snakes --- Gopher snakes . I caught some Southern Pacific rattlesnakes but I did not keep them . Creepy Oftentimes , people generalize that all snakes can kill . Well for one the Gopher snakes I had were non-venomous even if they are large and long , about five feet . They were even called Bullsnakes but some mistook them to be rattlesnakes because their tails rattle when mad . I found my Gopher snake --- I named him Goofy '--- from the woods near our house But really , unlike other snakes , they are friendly to us...
