Never before in mankind 's history have the media had such a significant impact on our lives and behaviour - and this is due to modern technology , in other words inventors ! One of the most effective ways to raise awareness about a problem and generate support for solutions is through the media . Never before in history have so many people been exposed to so many different influences in such a short

period of time . Our electronic culture subjects adults and youth to a hurricane of media messages daily . Entertainment and news on television and radio talk radio , popular music , print and broadcast advertising and the new media ' outlet , the internet , all disseminate words and images that help to shape how we think and feel about ourselves and our culture . Social marketing , media advocacy and media literacy are all utilizing media strategies which can be employed by any concerned organization to support their initiatives

Media is intervened through many sides of our life . Within this an attempt to analyze the role played by media in the relationship between law enforcement and the community will be made

The relationship between law enforcement agencies and the print and electronic media fluctuates between mutual hostility and admiration . The purpose of this survey is to provide some comments on the impact the mass media is having on our community and culture . Perhaps these observations and suggestions will be further discussed , which may lead to some modification in our relationship with the mass media

In the last fifty years , the impact that the mass media has had on our society has been overwhelming . Whether or not the overall influence of the mass media has been good or bad is a question which will eventually , be better answered by philosophers , theologians , and historians . The media has made many remarkable contributions to our culture there is more than enough evidence to conclude that in general its influence has not been all that healthy

We are the ones who watch television , listen to the radio , see the movies or watch advertisements , and subsequently , allow ourselves or our children 's behaviour to be influenced by what was seen or heard . We are the ones whose behaviours , however influenced , often lead to violence misery , and degradation . What is most important in relation to this survey is that law enforcement exists in a community that is heavily prejudiced by a very complex , often distressing , yet influential mass media industry . It is very important that law enforcement officers understand the influence of the media on our job for the following reasons : first , we see first hand the violence , degradation , and lack of ethical behaviour by people as a consequence of the mass media influence .
