In the initiation period , a selectee had got a charge book in which any of the mistakes committed were documented , and thus punished by the kangaroo court . This was a normal procedure of the initiation which had to be undertaken . However , the initiation period was not a must , as a selectee had the right to decide to forego the procedure
With time , the initiation practices have been replaced with other new policies and procedures , which are generally induction processes However , there are many similarities between the new induction and the old initiation procedures
For more recognition , a promoted officer will be given a change of uniform to accompany the new rank and roles . The officer will also be given some privileges over the others for instance , they will have different places as their home , and the dining areas .
