Researchers have over the years been interested in finding out the pull and push factors behind organizational performance in relation to employees ' attitudes towards work . In the classical era , such as the industrial revolutionary period , management theories were processed based on data from scientific experiments which described the motivating factors behind employees ' performance . However , with the evolution of the workforce environments , new theories emerge and the perception towards classical theories continue to change in to

relate well with the current scenario . Organizational behavior is a recent discipline that gained recognition in the human resource and practitioner studies in the 20th century although it exists in other disciplines such as psychology and sociology . In organizational studies organizational behavior applies interdisciplinary theory approaches to understand , describe , predict and control the behavior of individuals or group of individuals and their interaction dynamics within the organization (Yang , 2009 . Currently , the study is of significance to HR academicians and HR practitioners because of emergence of new organizational behavior theories which explain that transformational leadership styles (theory Y ) are more likely to exhibit better organizational performance as compared to those that use the classical transitional leadership systems (theory X . Through organizational behavior , HR practitioners are able to develop better employer-employee relations with the purpose of attaining the organizational goals while HR academicians are able to instill knowledge on better management strategies .
