leadership
Collaborative Leadership in the Face of Nursing Challenges I strongly believe that nurses can be empowered collaboratively especially after reading Davis ' article for as long as they share the sincerity in delivering care to their patients . According to ReNel Davis , nurses can lead in their own work environments for as long as they share the same moral and ethical values in the light of being a community . Taken as a holographic community , the nursing organization in any hospital provides that each nurse is a member that can contribute his or her own

resources in strengthening the goals of the health care system or developing new ways that could improve it
An example would be the systems that Sharp HealthCare is delivering through four acute-care hospitals , three specialty hospitals and two medical groups in the San Diego , California area . Led by direct care nurses , each organization has Unit Nursing Practice Councils which are long-standing committees designed to work on continuous quality improvement projects , making communal decisions , researching and adhering to national standards and guidelines of care to support unit nursing practices (Sharp HealthCare , 2007 , par . 2
The holographic community model is very ideal in the sense that it works on the premise that each nurse understands his or her role as part of the whole community going beyond hospital care . However , in practice , this may be challenged by the fact that not all nurses may be in their occupation due to sincerity to provide health care . Some may just be in their jobs for the reason of its salary and benefits . If so the model will only work if the desire to care is present in the general population of nurses working together
I believe that the model can really work as a tool for nurses to make a difference in the healthcare system provided that each nurse is truly sincere in caring for each other
