The winner of the Democratic presidential nomination campaign is a touted to be the one who becomes the next president of the USA . The campaign is one of a kind in that it is presenting the electorate with new possibilities . That is , a black president or a female one . The nomination campaign has been fought with all the energy that the contestants can muster . Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama

have done their utmost to convince the delegates to back them . As the process comes to a close the question is who should we elect ? Forget the question of electability . Ten years down the line the possibility of a woman president was being toyed around with , but a black president was not even being discussed . The debate of who we elect should not be fought on the grounds of one 's ethnicity or gender but on what they can do for America . The major issues facing the nation include wars on foreign lands , soaring crime rates , rising poverty drug abuse and an underperforming economy . The war in Iraq is causing anguish and despair to millions of Americans . The rationale for the war has never been proven . Thus the adventurism of the Republicans may not get them votes .
