It is my interest to apply for the position of accountant . It is therefore my purpose here to highlight my knowledge , skills and abilities in the said matter

For any firm , whether profit or non-profit , efficiency is a crucial concern . It is all about maximizing the use of resources and time in the achievement of a goal or

objective . It is this concern for efficiency that essentially establishes the need for accounting and thus for the development of the competencies of an able accountant

As an accountant , I should and I can gather and provide information that is useful to assess the financial well being of the firm or organization . I have sufficient knowledge in financial accounting , to help prepare company financial reports for external use and , management accounting , to generate reports that would help the management of the organization evaluate production costs and efficiency

In a manner of putting it , accounting is all about being able to track a company 's money . Stakeholders in the company or firm 's development and operations , I know , will be perusing my reports and managers in particular will look at my accounting reports to see how well the organization is doing . Others might be interested in the tax concerns of the firm or if the firm would be a good product or service provider or partner

To be more direct , in terms of knowledge of accounting and auditing principles , concepts , and practices , I could say that I am well-versed in mathematics and the necessary accounting applications , i .e , on economic and accounting principles and practices , the financial markets banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data , principles and processes for providing customer and personal services , including customer needs assessment , meeting quality standards for services , and evaluation of customer satisfaction . On top of these , I am also knowledgeable on the pertinent laws and codes , procedures , regulatory frameworks

Skills and ability-wise , I am adept at related administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing , managing of s and records , designing needed forms , and other pertinent office procedures and terminology . I have a modicum of related knowledge on principles and procedures for personnel recruitment , selection training , compensation and benefits , labor relations and negotiation and personnel information systems . I can prepare , examine , and analyze accounting records , financial statements , and other financial reports to assess accuracy , completeness , and conformance to reporting and procedural standards . I can compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns ensuring compliance with payment , reporting and other tax requirements

I can help analyze business operations , trends , costs , revenues financial commitments , and obligations , to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice . In this regard , I can help establish tables of accounts , and assign entries to proper accounts develop maintain , and analyze budgets , preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs and , survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend , develop , and maintain solutions to business and financial problems . I can even help develop , implement modify , and document record keeping and accounting systems , making use of available information and communication or computer technology

With the use of appropriate software , I am able to prepare , examine , and analyze accounting records , financial statements , and other financial reports to assess accuracy , completeness , assuring conformance to reporting and procedural standards

It is my understanding that an accountant is a licensed professional who must keep updating his knowledge and skills and continuously hone his abilities . Many people could be under the mistaken notion that accountants simply provide tax return preparation services . There is reportedly the stereotypical perspective that involves a person dropping off her receipts a month before tax returns are due and the accountant doing the best she can to prepare a tax return while limiting the amount of money the person owes to the government . This sadly may occur , but this is an inefficient application of the accountant 's skills and suggests an under appreciation of the potentials of accountancy as a business tool

Indeed , accountants must have a crucial expertise in the tax code . The accountant must help figure out the best way to taxes for the organization or the firm . An accountant must have all the knowledge and skills to provide specific direction on the steps to be taken to save money on the firm 's tax bill but equally important , she could potentially provide advice on how the firm may save taxes in future years . Depending on the firm 's state , the accountant can probably provide options for long-term decision making on taxation concerns . In this regard , allow me to say that I am able to craft tax strategies to save the firm money and this make efficient use of financial and other resources

Finally , let me also note that I am an able communicator . In written or verbal form , I believe I have sufficient skills to be able to provide the best support for the firm . To complement this , I think I can relate well with various personality types and I can find ways to connect , as it were , with my co-workers . This last point is really about another "A " - attitude . I think this has to be added to my KSA 's . For in the final analysis , knowledge , skills and abilities do count . But in the real world of work , when push come to shove as they say , wouldn 't it be nice that your co-work has the ability to keep a pleasant mien despite all the pressure . Work , after all , is just a means to an end . And that end would be more meaningful with healthy relationships leading to it Attitude does count , along with knowledge , skills and abilities

I am competent accountant and , I believe , I have the proper attitude towards work and co-workers
