To get insight into the role of financial manager , I interviewed Mr Patel , who is a financial manager in a local clothe manufacturing factory . Mr . Patel has been working first as a junior manager in the firm and rising up to the position of a senior financial manager . He has been instrumental in overseeing the growth of the firm from a local textile cottage to a multinational firm exporting clothes to emerging markets

What do you consider the role that a

financial manager in today 's economy considering the turmoil

According to Mr . Patel , financial manager has a great role to play to ensure that his or her firm mitigates the effect of the current turmoil resulting from economic crisis . Mr . Patel clarified that the current economic crisis has had negative effects on production as most firms have seen declining market demand of their product . He argues that a financial manager should strive to ensure that the firm maintains a positive balance sheet despite the declining market demand of goods and services . In doing so , he stresses the importance of doing best to maintain the current workforce since laying-off employees may result to increased cost of training new employees when the economy is back on track . Mr . Patel gave a good example of how he talked with employees on reduction of salary and other benefits to ensure that everyone was retained in the organization during this time of financial crisis .
