The study used a retrospective chart audit for a six-month data collection on the outcomes of 21 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes . All the patients participating in the study were able to complete 3 visits with a registered dietitian . The chart audit covered patient background , type and duration of nutrition therapy followed other forms of medication taken , and blood glucose levels after six months of nutritional therapy . Data for individual patients were summarized and the mean taken to provide results for the group . Results showed a decrease in blood glucose levels by an average of 33 .5 percent of the patients undergoing nutrition therapy . The average reduction in weight was 2 .05 kilograms .
