The spread of English throughout the world can now be observed . Many countries have already accepted English as their international language Some countries even include the study of English on the curriculum on their education . Other non native speakers are going to English speaking country in to learn the language . And good effects have been seen on the use of English as an international language . In

South Korea some of their students are enrolling to English speaking countries like America and Britain or to some countries in area like Philippines in to learn the language

And with the view of English as an international language , people links this observation to worldwide treatise on globalization , modernization and capitalism . This could implies to the idea that English not only serves as a neutral vehicle for communication of South Korea to other countries but it can also serves as tool in the development of South Korea (Pennycook , 1994 ,

.158 . The use of English is considered to be natural , neutral , and beneficial on South Korea if the cultural and social differences will be disregarded

However , even though the use of English as an international language may be useful to South Korea , there are some doubts on full acceptance of the language . Some of the people there have doubts on embracing English as an international language because some thinks that English is still owned by American or British . They sometimes relate the use of English as a way to colonized them . There are also troubled that with the use and understanding of English , their culture might vanished and be replaced by the English cultures since more people of South Korea will be more exposed to other cultures through books , internet , mass media and other tools for communication

South Korea 's culture may have some differences to other countries . This can be a hindrance upon the full acceptance of English as an international language . Some things that can be learn from other book or any resources written on English might contribute to conflict with the people from South Korea and they might not accept the idea from that certain resource . For example , an article might have not been written clearly or the analysis or interpretation of the writer about Korea is not true . This may result in conflict , however this can be avoided if the people of South Korea have already written a book about them that other people from othe countries can understand

Others have some concerns regarding the way they will use the language the way they speak . Some fear of what the native speakers of English attitude towards them . They have some speculations that the native speakers will treat the people of South Korea as inferior because of the way they use and pronounce the language .
