The role of HR in any organization is very dynamic . In the past , its main focus is recruitment and administration of employee benefits . The changing needs of the organization and the diversity of people getting hired in an organization changed the priorities of the HR department from purely personnel functions to employee relations . The need for competent and skilled employees made HR department focus on

training and development of the people in the organization . HR evolved from being just a personnel department into a resource development champion . Today HR has a new role which is human capital development

This work highlights the processes and transactions observed , learned shared , and revealed by the people in the organization through the use of questionnaires , surveys , small group discussions , and informal interviews . The purpose of this work is to validate the real applications of concepts and principles learned in school as against the real work situations at the HR department . Where there are observable gaps , this work would seek to present a workable recommendation which may be of interest to the organization

As observed in the job placement , gaps do exist in the real world of HR . People handling is a tough job and communication matters in all facets of HR functions . Initiatives and programs are best understood if those in Management are fully committed to them . The Organizational Structure

The organization is a company engaged in the exclusive distribution of milk products . It has been in this business for the past 50 years . The organizational structure is composed of an Executive Committee , a Management Committee , Supervisors , Specialists , and the Rank and employees . Over the years , the headcount of employees has been more or less maintained at four hundred (400 . The Executive Committee is composed of the President of the company and the three Vice Presidents who head the various departments of the company . The Management Committee is composed of the Senior Managers who head the different departments , namely , Sales , Credit and Billing , Accounting , Audit Supply Chain Management , Treasury , Information Technology , and lastly the HR Department . The Supervisors compose the immediate superiors of the sales team . The latter belong to the category of Specialists . The Rank and is composed of the various office staff , encoders , and warehouse men The business model of the company is representative of the company 's objective to give full support to the customer : enabling the customer and letting the customer grow his business . The direction is for any of the departments to act as consultants of the customer and build goodwill . The mission of the company is to be the leader in the distribution business as it builds a strong partnership with its customers
